Export image to snapshot

The Image to Snapshot and Image to Large Snapshot export functions export snapshots of what is displayed in the Image Viewer to picture files (JPG, BMP or PNG). The Image to Snapshot function captures the view at the current magnification, while you can choose the snapshot resolution with the Image to Large Snapshot function. Display overlays (such as the scale bar, metadata, outlines, and tracks) are included in the snapshots.

Export to snapshot

If the image is larger than what is displayed in the Image Viewer in Main View (2D), you have the option to capture a snapshot of the displayed region or the entire image at the current magnification. For snapshots of 3D View, only the displayed region is included in the snapshot.

Perform the following steps to export a snapshot at the current magnification:

  1. Click on File > Export > Image to Snapshot or run the Export Image to Snapshot command from the search bar.

  2. If prompted, click Yes to capture the entire image at the current magnification or No to capture only the region shown in the Image Viewer.

  3. Choose a location and filename for the snapshot in the Save As dialog.

  4. Click Save.
